Dark Bordered Beauty Moth Monitoring at RSPB Insh Marshes

Date:  Saturday 29th July

Time:  10.00am

Meeting Place:  RSPB Insh Marshes car park. 2 miles out of Kingussie on the B970 (past Ruthven Barracks). NN775998 (OS map 35 – Kingussie). What3words: lorry.sized.vipers

Description:  There are currently only two locations in Scotland (and one in England) where Dark Bordered Beauty moth is found. RSPB Insh Marshes is one of them. The moths are monitored annually through light trapping. Come and join us as we look through moth traps. There should be plenty of species to see in the traps, some of which will be nationally scarce, but Dark Bordered Beauty moth is the star of the show.

Approx duration:  To lunchtime and possibly beyond.

What's Needed:  Packed lunch (if staying beyond lunchtime) and midge repellent (just in case).
