Moth Identification at Gearrchoille Community Woodland - Saturday 18th of July 2015

Thankfully our return visit to the Community Wood at Ardgay was more successful than the first one in June when only one moth was trapped!

In fact we were overwhelmed with moths, 200 individuals, 40 different species, and I think the group of people who turned up to see them were well impressed.  The children, as always, were fascinated by the Poplar Hawk-moths and the adults by both Grey and Green Arches amongst others.

Gearrchoille Wood, over a period of several years, has now produced records for some 120 species of moths.  More details about the wood can be found on their website and Facebook page.
